The Bamboo Trend

Feels Like Silk

I am going to start a trend and dub bamboo as the ‘eco-luxury’ fabric of today. It feels like a blend between silk and cashmere and is becoming an increasingly popular fabric of choice over pure cotton due to it’s luxurious softness and it’s positive environmental impact which is highly regarded amongst customers.

The Bamboo plant is 100% eco-friendly as it thrives naturally without the need of any pesticides or fertilizers. It is classified as a grass not a tree, and is the fastest growing plant in the world. It therefore is a fantastic sustainable renewable plant resource (growing to a maximum height in about 3 months and reaching maturity in 3-4 years). Another positive is that it requires little water to flourish, only needing what rain falls from above, so it saves millions of liters in water consumption.

Bamboo facts

Bamboo also plays a crucial part in the balance of oxygen and carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. Bamboo releases 35% more oxygen than the same size stand of trees and absorbs four times as much carbon from the air. This can help reduce our carbon footprint and fight global warming and as the fastest growing plant, bamboo could provide the answer to deforestation.

Bamboo tees are incredibly soft, smooth, luxurious and are simply better than a cheap 100% cotton tee. Bamboo tees are a better quality tee because they are good for the skin and are naturally hypoallergenic and antibacterial. Bamboo is more breathable than cotton, more absorbent than cotton – keeps dry and odor free, is more durable than cotton and also protects from the sun with its UV resistant qualities.
